Neil Warren

Neil worked for Customs and Excise for 14 years until 1997. With nearly 37 years' experience in VAT he has many accolades in recognition of his work, including Taxation Awards Tax Writer of the Year 2008, as well as the author of Tolley's annual VAT Planning book from 2005 to 2012. He was on the national CPD speaking circuit for eight years until 2014.

He has developed a reputation for being able to simplify complex VAT problems and writes for most of the leading tax publications in the UK, including Taxation, TAXline, Accounting Web and Tax Adviser. He has been closely involved with HMRC on a number of VAT policy issues. His specialist areas include VAT on land and property transactions, construction services and partial exemption.
